Australia shortlists tactical UAV vendors

Australia has announced that four companies have been shortlisted for the army’s Project Land 129 Phase 3 to find a new tactical UAV system.

The downselected quartet of contenders, after passing through an ‘invitation to register’ stage of the tender process, now proceed to a limited RfT.

The four companies are Insitu Pacific, Leidos Australia, Raytheon Australia and Textron Systems Australia, but authorities did not say which specific UAVs have been proffered by each company.

Notably, two of the main purveyors of rotary-wing UAVs – Schiebel and Skeldar – are not on the list.
