Bangladesh takes receipt of Chinese-built trainer jets

Seven K-8W trainer jets, built by the Hongdu Aviation Industry Corporation (HAIC) in China, touched down in Bangladesh on 15 October.

Photos released by the Bangladesh Air Force (BAF) showed the jets landing at Zahurul Haq Air Base near Chattogram, and being met by BAF officials. Bangladeshi pilots performed the ferry flights.

A government-to-government contract of unknown value for these aircraft had been signed at the nation’s Air Headquarters on 20 June 2018. Earlier that year, the BAF had voiced a requirement for 23 such jet trainers.
