NZ Army distributes simulation facilities

The New Zealand Army is making wider use of weapon simulators as it attempts to ‘work smarter, not harder’.

Burnham Camp near Christchurch received a Mobile Weapon Training System (MWTS) midyear, and it is being regularly used by the resident infantry unit, 2/1st Battalion, Royal New Zealand Infantry Regiment (RNZIR), as well as other formations located at the base.

Lt Col Eugene Whakahoehoe, the commander of 2/1 RNZIR, explained, ‘We can master marksmanship in a garrison environment so we don’t lose time in the field.’
