I/ITSEC 2015: UGVs for sharpshooter training (video)

Soldiers in training could soon be firing at autonomous unmanned ground vehicles that replicate the behaviours of real-world cars and drivers.

The US military has funded the development of a UGV called the Autonomous Electric Vehicle Target, or AVeTar, which is designed to enhance training and reduce the predictability of current rail-based systems.

Shephard spoke with Frank Sturek, director of defence products at Michigan-based Pratt & Miller, about the design and how the US Army has utilised the system so far.
