ITEC 2016: IFS selected for MFTS action

The UK MFTS took a major step forward in February when Affinity Flying Training Services signed the contract to provide the remaining fixed-wing training elements for the programme.

Affinity, a JV between Elbit Systems and KBR, will use 23 Grob 120A Prefects, ten T-6C Harvard IIs and five Phenom 100 aircraft to support MFTS, a programme that is managed by Ascent Flight Training; another JV formed by Lockheed Martin and Babcock Defence.

Ascent says it expects to achieve initial training capability with the G120TP in late 2017, followed by the Phenom 100 in mid-2018 and the T-6C
