USSOUTHCOM in ‘desperate need’ for fleet assets says commander

The US Southern Command (USSOUTHCOM) is in urgent need of ISR, maritime and naval aviation capabilities as it has suffered over the last few years a reduction in assets assigned for deployment in its area of responsibility (AOR).
Speaking in a hearing at the Senate Committee on Armed Forces, USSOUTHCOM Commander Adm Alvin Holsey claimed that the “USSOUTHCOM has seen a decline in available resources for the counterdrug mission due to competing global requirements”.
