IMDEX Asia: USN confirms LCS deployment plans

The US Navy (USN) has publicised its plans for Littoral Combat Ship (LCS) forward deployments to Singapore, with a spokesperson confirming to Shephard that four vessels will be operating from there by 2018.

Changi Naval Base welcomed the first overseas-deployed LCS in April 2013, the first-of-class USS Freedom. The second deployment occurred with USS Fort Worth departing San Diego last November. The latter Freedom-class ship is performing a 16-month deployment, with a crew swap occurring in February.
