US Coast Guard selects Sagem BlueNaute system
Sagem’s BlueNaute heading reference system has been selected by the US Coast Guard to upgrade 12 of its Juniper WLB class vessels, the company announced on 29 April.
Sagem's BlueNaute reference system is based on hemispherical resonator gyros, a proprietary technology designed to give the BlueNaute high reliability and precise measurements.
According to the company, the BlueNaute's inertial core offers a competitive advantage in terms of total cost of ownership and performance over the previous generation of inertial technologies, especially fibre-optic and mechanical models.
The BlueNaute's mean time between failures exceeds 100,000 hours and it is suitable for use in coast guard or police missions, offshore operations, scientific missions and at-sea searches.
