Russian Navy to get additional Project 22350 frigates
United Shipbuilding Corporation’s Severnaya Shipyard is to build an additional unspecified number of Project 22350 frigates for the Russian Navy, according to Deputy Defence Minister Alexi Krivoruchko.
The comments were made by Krivoruchko during a launch ceremony of the Project 20380 corvette at the company’s shipyard in St Petersburg on 12 March.
The Project 22350 frigates are being designed to be the most advanced warship of its class. TASS reported that the ships will be armed with P-800 Oniks and Kalibr missiles and the Poliment-Redut air defence missile system.
The vessels can reach speeds of up to 29kt and displace 4,500t.
