Fishermen in northern Norway recently made global media headlines for encountering a Beluga whale that appeared to have been fitted with some kind of manmade harness and GPS tracking device. Reports suggest that the device originated from Russia, which has previously trained dolphins for use in a variety of military situations in the Black Sea and has reportedly trained Beluga whales for some years.
