Little let-up in South China Sea facility construction

While tensions in the South China Sea were at a reduced level throughout 2017, China has not been sitting idle on its military outposts. 

In a report, the Washington-based Asia Maritime Transparency Initiative (AMTI) stated: ‘Beijing remains committed to advancing the next phase of its build-up – construction of the infrastructure necessary for fully functioning air and naval bases on the larger outposts.’
