The Finnish Navy has officially taken delivery of four upgraded Rauma Class Fast Attack Crafts from Patria. The delivery marks the completion of the €70 million programme that started in 2010.
The programme has seen Patria conduct major life-cycle upgrade work on the Rauma Class vessels - Rauma, Raahe, Porvoo and Naantali - to update combat systems to meet modern requirements and extend the vessels’ service life into the 2020s.
Pasi Niinikoski, president, Patria’s Systems Business Unit, said: ‘The Rauma Class Fast Attack Craft life-cycle upgrade project succeeded according to plan. Special thanks are due to the project team, partners and the customer for their smooth and flexible cooperation.
‘The project was challenging because it involved many different system upgrades. Its successful completion is excellent proof of Patria's ability to manage and implement large-scale system integration projects.’
As the project’s main supplier, Patria was responsible for overall renovation planning, subcontractor delivery co-ordination, and general integration. Patria’s subcontractors included Saab, Western Shipyard, Kongsberg Maritime, Furuno Finland, Ab Marinel, and Valmarine.
The approved purchase is for Tomahawk Block IV and Block V missiles, control systems, telemetry missiles and communication and broadcast systems.
