US Army eyes new Javelin missiles
The US Army is finalising a contract to purchase the new multipurpose variant of the FGM-148 Javelin anti-tank missiles which provides enhanced capabilities against non-armoured targets.
Around 2,000 of the new 'F-model' missiles, designated FGM-148F, are expected to be ordered by the army within the next two months, with production scheduled to begin later this year.
Dean Barten, close combat weapon systems (CCWS) project director (US Army PEO) told Shephard that the 'F-model is going on contract within the next month or two,' adding that it is 'a pretty big development for us’.
Developed by the Javelin Joint Venture, a partnership between Raytheon and Lockheed
