Thailand tests BTR-3E with CMI 90mm gun
Thailand has tested a variant of the BTR-3E 8x8 armoured personnel carrier (APC) fitted with a turret from CMI Defence.
The turret is the CSE 90LP turret featuring the CMI 90mm Mk III low-pressure gun.
CMI Defence and Ukroboronprom (Ukraine’s state-owned defence industrial conglomerate) have teamed to offer the BTR-3E CSE 90 for the Thai military.
The Royal Thai Army (RTA) and Royal Thai Marine Corps have a requirement to replace old Cadillac Gage V-150 4x4 APCs, and thus they anticipate procuring significant numbers of additional BTR-3Es. Thailand ordered 96 BTR-3E1s in 2008, 121 in 2011 plus a further 21
