Thai army to buy Strykers from US
The Royal Thai Army (RTA) made a surprise move by preparing to procure Stryker M1126 Infantry Carrier Vehicles (ICV) for its 11th Infantry Division.
The RTA will acquire 37 M1126s through the Foreign Military Sales route, as well as 23 free units to make a total of 60 vehicles. These are refurbished vehicles once used by the US Army, making Thailand the first country to obtain ex-US Strykers.
Also included in the package are hangars, weapons, communication systems, spare parts, a training facility and maintenance and repair at a friendly price of $80 million.
