Switzerland eyes new soldier kit, retires artillery
The Swiss government has outlined a requirement for updated clothing and equipment for its soldiers in its new armament programme, released last month.
Switzerland’s 2018 armament programme budget, worth CHF848 million, comprises five large projects as well as several smaller procurements in the land domain.
The most expensive project is the acquisition of a new modular clothing and equipment system (MBAS), worth CHF377 million. It consists of new combat clothing, load-carrying equipment, a ballistic vest and a water reservoir.
The equipment will be supplied in a new camouflage pattern and is expected to equip 100,000 personnel.
