Swedish CV90 begins 120mm mortar firing trials
BAE Systems Hägglunds has commenced firing trials of the CV90 120mm Mjolner self-propelled mortar (SPM) system which is being developed under a Swedish Defence Materiel Adminstration (FMV) contract.
The 575 million Kroner ($68 million) fixed price contract was awarded to BAE Systems Hägglunds in December 2016 to provide Swedish Army mechanised battalions with 40 120mm SPM systems to replace their currently deployed towed 120mm systems.
If all goes to plan firing tests of the Mjolner - or Thor in Norse mythology - will be completed by late 2018 to allow production to commence.
