Spanish Army concludes VCR 8x8 Dragon firing tests
The Spanish Army has announced the conclusion of the VCR 8x8 Dragon shooting tests at the Álvarez de Sotomayor Field of Maneuvers and Shooting, in Viator (Almería).
Two prototypes of the vehicle (D1 and D2) were evaluated. The D1 was equipped with the Tizona tower and the D2 with the Samson 30 weapons station. In both cases, the tests included shooting with the 30mm ATK, 7.62mm machine guns and spike missile launchers.
The service stressed that both towers are a good option for the Dragon programme. Although the army considered the results satisfactory, additional tests will be carried out.
The activities were conducted by the UTE companies, suppliers of the VCR 8x8, and will be the basis for the operational evaluation, due to be led by the army.
