South Korea eyes US sales for Bigung
The Bigung ("Flying Arrow") guided rocket system has been successfully evaluated by the US DoD under the Foreign Comparative Testing (FCT) process, the South Korean arms procurement agency has announced.
'The achievement is expected to help our home-grown weapons system advance into the US and other foreign markets,' said DAPA chief Wang Jung-hong.
The 70mm rocket system hit all 10 targets and met all US requirements during an FCT session in October, the Defense Acquisition Program Administration (DAPA) revealed on 7 April.
Developed in South Korea for coastal defence, Bigung employs a fire-and-forget advanced guidance system.
Bigung was developed by the South Korean Agency for Defence Development, LIG Nex1 and Hanwha to meet the Low-Cost Guided Imaging Rocket (LOGIR) requirement from the Republic of Korea Marine Corps.
