Russian MoD set to buy more Verba MANPADS
The Russian Ministry of Defence is set to buy more 9K333 Man-Portable Air Defense Systems (MANPAD).
A source at the Russian MoD told Shephard that four units have been distributed to ground and air defence forces and numbers for 2015 could be in the range of 15-20 units. There has been no official confirmation of the numbers however.
Verba was reportedly deployed in the recent military exercises on the Ukrainian border and are part of Russia’s equipment modernisation plan. Verba is designed by KB Mashinostroyeniya, a state defence R&D enterprise near Moscow.
