Russia to double firepower
The procurement of missile and artillery units alongside the establishment of more Army units means Russia is set to double its capability over by 2020.
According to General Michael Matveevsky, head of the Missile Forces and Artillery of the Russian Ground Forces, by 2021 Russia will have three types of highly equipped brigades: rocket, artillery and rocket artillery.
As part of these plans, the Russian MoD has already started updating the existing arsenal of missile and artillery units.
To date, it has already completed purchases of the modernized 152-mm self-propelled MSTA-CM howitzers, which are fully integrated into a tactical command
