Russia commissions two new assault rifles
The Russian MoD has finally taken a decision to accept two new assault rifles into frontline service, manufactured by Kalashnikov and the Degtarev Plant company.
Both families are set to be procured in large numbers in two calibre options: 5.43x39 and 7.62x39mm.
The decision was announced in publicly for the first time during a conference held at the Moscow Higher Military Command School, and was also cited in the official Russian MoD newspaper, Red Star.
