Verba ready for international markets
Rostec State Corporation subsidiary Rosoboronexport has commenced active promotion of its Verba man-portable air defence missile system (MANPADS) to international markets, Rostec announced on 22 March.
Verba, which has been designed and manufactured by the KBM Scientific Production Concern, is in the process of entering service with the Russian Army.
The system's anti-air combat performance has been improved with the introduction of a new tri-band optical homer for the 9M336 missile and a new warhead featuring an adaptive contact/proximity fuze and increased-weight explosive.
These developments aim to improve the system's capability to engage small targets with low thermal signatures such as cruise missiles and UAS; enhance jamming immunity; and enhance effectiveness against modern air strike weapons.
Sergei Goreslavsky, deputy director general, Rosoboronexport, said: ‘We are confident that the Verba will provoke interest of Indian militaries and our partners in South East Asia and other regions. It is the best weapon system in its class offered today in the international arms market, judging by the combination of its tactical and technical characteristics and realisation of unique technical solutions.'
