Rheinmetall forms Vehicle Systems division
Rheinmetall will form a new division called ‘Vehicle Systems’, under which the company will consolidate its defence military vehicle activities, it was announced on 25 January.
The company has placed Rheinmetall MAN Military Vehicles (RMMV) and Rheinmetall Landsysteme (RLS) under joint management from 1 January.
The move has been prompted by market trends showing that customers are more interested in acquring systems than platforms. With this in mind, the new unit is being positioned as a comprehensive supplier of tracked and wheeled military vehicles and turret solutions, capable of meeting the complete ground mobility needs of the world’s armed forces.
This will include wheeled and tracked military vehicles, including the Puma infantry fighting vehicle, the Kodiak armoured engineering vehicle, the 8x8 Boxer, the 6x6 Fuchs/Fox, and the 4x4 AMPV; and the TG, HX and SX truck families.
Turret systems including the Lance turret and the turret structure for the UK’s new Scout reconnaissance vehicle will also fall into the new portfolio.
. The annual sales are anticipated to reach EUR1.4 billion ($1.52 billion) in fiscal year 2016.
The company will have three divisions - weapons and ammunition, electronic solutions, and vehicle systems - under the new structure.
