Quantum3D unveils latest version of ExpeditionDI
Quantum3D, Inc., a leading provider of visual computing solutions for government and commercial applications, today announced new additions to its ExpeditionDI self-contained, wearable and fully-immersive close combat infantry simulator training platform. Designed to advance today’s infantry training initiatives, ExpeditionDI’s new enhancements include an improved head mount display (HMD) and an updated wearable computing pack with the latest Intel i7 processor and NVIDIA GPU, providing increased performance for unmatched virtual realism.
“We’ve integrated several advanced technologies into ExpeditionDI, all of which are focused on providing soldiers new levels of visualization and virtual realism to ensure they’re ready for real-time battle needs,” said Arthur Yan, president, Quantum3D. “Delivering a virtual training environment to reinforce the skills needed for mission success, the latest ExpeditionDI training platform offers an increased sense of immersion, longer training capabilities, advanced visual imagery, and improved safety features.”
ExpeditionDI’s new HMD provides a wide 60-degree Field-of-View perspective to more effectively immerse soldiers in the virtual training environment. Featuring up to four smart batteries, ExpeditionDI now offers over two hours of continuous virtual training without interruption. The wearable computer pack also features a built-in thermal shield and alarm, as well as a new quick-release latch to enable soldiers to immediately unlatch the pack from their back for improved safety.
For added training flexibility, ExpeditionDI integrates the latest in wireless technology for weapons and systems to support training of multiple squads simultaneously in-room without signal interference. ExpeditionDI also adds an M4 with a M320 grenade launcher option, expanding the range of immersive training scenarios and applications.
ExpeditionDI is currently being integrated into the Close Combat Tactical Trainer - Dismounted Soldier Training System (CCTT-DSTS) -- driving today’s standards in soldier training. Quantum3D’s enhanced ExpeditionDI infantry training solution will be demonstrated at Quantum3D’s booth (#4045) at the 2011 Association of the United States Army (AUSA) Annual Meeting & Exposition from Oct. 10-12.
