Philippines selects new tracked and wheeled armour
An Israeli company enjoys continued success in the Philippines after being selected to provide three different classes of AFV
After much deliberation, and delays caused by COVID-19, Manila has finally selected new light tanks, 8x8 fire support vehicles and 6x6 APCs to equip the Philippine Army’s Armor Division under two separate programmes negotiated directly with the Israeli government.
It is unclear if a contract has already been signed, even though the Philippine government released funds on 21 October for an initial 15% payment for both projects that are being pursued under the military’s Horizon 2 modernisation programme.
