OMFV inches towards five-way contest
A solicitation for the problematic Optionally Manned Fighting Vehicle (OMFV) could be published by the US Army next week, in a new attempt to launch the programme after almost 12 months of acquisition strategy redesign.
The aim is to produce as many as five competing designs to replace the workhorse Bradley Fighting Vehicle fleet.
On 9 December, US Army officials informed industry that an RfP for OMFV concept design — the second phase of a five-step plan to select winner by 2027 — is expected on 18 December.
Officials also revealed a new parallel ‘modular open systems approach’ for OMFV
