Cormorant creator chases the American dream
A recent cooperation agreement between Boeing and Tactical Robotics will accelerate efforts to promote the Israeli-developed Cormorant VTOL UAV for use by the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) as an unmanned supply and medical evacuation system.
Tactical Robotics, a subsidiary of Urban Aeronautics (the Israeli company that developed the Cormorant and patented the design as Fancraft), has been asked to demonstrate its system.
IDF sources indicated to Shephard that the Cormorant offers considerable potential to fit the operational requirements of Israeli ground forces.
Boeing and Tactical Robotics signed an agreement in January to explore development of ducted-fan propulsion technology.
