Orbital ATK receives orders for small-calibre ammo
Orbital ATK has received orders totalling $115 million from the US Army to produce small-calibre ammunition, the company announced on 10 April.
The orders have been placed for 5.56mm, 7.62mm and .50 calibre ammunition. The ammunition will be manufactured at Orbital ATK-operated Lake City Army Ammunition Plant in Independence, Missouri.
Jim Nichols, VP and general manager of Orbital ATK's small caliber systems division of the Defence Systems Group, said: ‘This latest order continues a long history of supplying only the highest quality, most reliable ammunition to our warfighters.
‘Working with the US Army, we will continue to focus on readiness, reducing risk, accelerating new capabilities while meeting operational demands and continuing key cost-effectiveness measures.’
