Nexter set for ammo boom
Nexter Group’s newly enlarged ammunition business is expected to achieve sales of nearly €750m in 2015, a 50% increase from last year.
Officials disclosed their results for 2015 during a media visit to its facilities in La Chapelle Saint-Ursin, France, last week.
This year’s strong performance has been aided by the French company’s acquisition of two ammunition companies, Simmel Difesa in Italy and Mecar in Belgium, from UK-based Chemring Group last year.
Mecar – a company that specialises in niche ammunition – had an ‘exceptional’ year in 2014, according to managing director Simon Haye, achieving €192.3m in sales.
