New power pack packs a punch
Today’s soldiers, including special forces, are burdened with an excess of batteries to power the increasing number of electronic items they carry.
The UK arm of Raytheon has unveiled a new product that may address this battery burden in the form of a man-portable power pack capable of recharging critical devices in the field.
The portable power generator (PPG) can be put in a backpack and charge equipment such as radios, GPS devices and night vision goggles; potentially reducing the amount of batteries soldiers have to transport around as primaries and spares.
