Nammo receives US military IDIQ M27 contract
Nammo Talley will supply the M72 Light Assault Weapon (LAW) to the US military under a four-year indefinite delivery indefinite quantity (IDIQ) contract announced on 5 January. The first order placed under the contract is valued at more than $25 million.
The contract will see Nammo Talley supply M72 LAW variants for anti-armour and anti-structure missions, as well as sub-calibre training systems and support services.
The M27 LAW is a man-portable, unguided, shoulder launched weapon. The single use weapon is highly portable, with a lightweight design to allow soldiers to carry multiple M72s at one time.
Chad Parkhill, product line director for shoulder launched munitions, Nammo Talley, said: ‘This is another important milestone for the battle-proven M72 LAW. It also sustains the vital ammunition industrial supply base in a period of decreasing volume.
‘We’re ready and proud to provide US and allied forces with what we believe are the lightest, most capable and cost-effective shoulder fired weapons in the world.’
