Morgan crew compartment on Tata LAMV
Morgan Advanced Materials has designed and developed a custom composite crew compartment for Tata Motors’ Light Armored Multipurpose Vehicle (LAMV) programme for the Indian Ministry of Defense.
Morgan’s crew protection solutions have been developed from the company’s composite and ceramic pod technology. The pod creates a detachable, blast and ballistic-resistant crew compartment, which can be easily integrated into customer-produced chassis and can be modified to provide higher levels of protection if required.
The composite and ceramic pod developed for the Tata Motors LAMV provides a weight saving of more than 1000kg (2204lbs), making it less than half the weight of a similarly protected steel structure.
Duncan Eldridge, president, Morgan Composites & Defense Systems, said: ‘Morgan is a world-leading designer of armoured systems for military vehicles, with unrivalled experience in both ceramics and composites, enabling it to deliver crew protection with optimum performance at the lowest possible weight.
‘Our success with the Indian Ministry of Defense’s LAMV programme is just the latest of example of how we can develop armour system as part of a strategic relationship that opens up opportunities for both companies.’
