Protector MCRWS selected for Stryker
General Dynamics Land Systems has selected Kongsberg’s Protector Medium Caliber Remote Weapon Station (MCRWS) as the 30mm weapon system solution for the Stryker vehicle, the company announced on 21 December.
The Protector MCRWS is a remotely controlled weapon station for light and medium calibre weapons. It can be mounted on any type of platform to allow the operation of weapons from inside the vehicle.
Espen Henriksen, president, Kongsberg Protech Systems, said: ‘We are very pleased that our Protector MCRWS has been selected as the solution for this Stryker brigade. The system is the result of several years of determined effort to develop a system with capabilities and performance required for these types of vehicles.'
Walter Qvam, president and CEO, Kongsberg, said: ‘This is a very important milestone for our newest innovation in this field, the MCRWS, and we are honoured to support US Army and General Dynamics Land Systems in this urgent operational requirement.’
