Kongsberg to supply Protector RWS to Canadian Army
Kongsberg has been awarded a NOK500 million ($49.88 million) contract with General Dynamics Land Systems – Canada for delivery of its Protector Remote Weapons Stations (RWS).
The RWS units will be supplied to the Canadian Army and will be integrated with the country’s fleet of Armoured Combat Support Vehicles. Canada signed an initial contract for the Protector in 2005, followed by extensions in 2012 and 2014.
Pål E Bratlie, Executive VP at Kongsberg Defence and Aerospace, said: ‘This confirms the strong position of Kongsberg’s Protector RWS and continues the close relationship between Kongsberg, the Canadian Army and General Dynamics Land Systems – Canada.’
The Protector RWS is prepared for wireless control, C-UAS capabilities, multi-sensor fusion and a series of other new capabilities which have been required by the system’s user community. It will be manufactured in parallel with five other programmes to align with the supply base.
