Kongsberg Protector system for Scout
Kongsberg has signed a contract with General Dynamics UK for delivering its Protector remote weapon system (RWS) for the Scout Specialist Vehicle (SV) programme, the company announced on 12 February.
The contract is valued at around $93.28 million and will see the Protector system available on all Scout SV platform variants. The system can replace the Primary Sight on the Scout reconnaissance variant and will be integrated into the advanced electronic architecture inside each platform.
The Protector remote weapon station is designed for small to medium calibre weapons. It can be installed on any platform type and is a fully-stabilised and combat-proven system qualified for global operations. It allows soldiers to operate the vehicle's weapons from a protected position inside the vehicle.
Kongsberg will produce the systems in Norway and begin deliveries in the autumn of 2016. The Protector system has been selected by 17 nations as of 2014.
