Kalashnikov unveils new AK-308 assault rifle
Russian small arms manufacturer Kalashnikov showed a new assault rifle with the 7.62x51mm calibre (.308 Winchester) to the public for the first time at Army-2018 defence exhibition held in Kubinka near Moscow.
The AK-308 is the latest member of the long-produced AK family of assault rifle, using the baseline design of the AK-103 that is currently in production for the Russian military and export (chambered for the 7.62x39mm round).
It also features some elements of the new-generation AK-12/15, approved for a large-scale procurement for the Russian military in early 2018.
