IDEF 2019: Turkish Altay tank nears production start
Turkish industry subcontractors of the BMC Altay MBT were awarded their individual contracts at IDEF 2019 by the OEM as the programme continues to move forward.
Speaking to Shephard a company official said that the production timeline would begin sometime this year and continue for 24 months. After which the first tank will be delivered to the Turkish government, in around 2021. The Altay serial production contract was awarded in November 2018.
The subcontractors for the vehicle included Aselsan, Havelsan, Rocketsan and MKEK.
