Harris announces Middle East nation order
Harris Corporation will supply a secure, integrated tactical area communications solution to an unnamed customer in the Middle East, with an order valued at more than $50 million announced on 18 December.
The Integrated Tactical Area Communications System (ITACS) solution will utilise Falcon III wideband tactical radios. The nation is acquiring the software-defined radios to provide mobile, net-centric capabilities to its armed forces.
The solution supports the latest wideband and narrowband networking waveforms and enables country-wide voice and data capabilities for critical missions, allowing for forward-deployed teams to stay in constant communications with commanders at operating bases and headquarters.
Brendan O'Connell, president, international business, Harris RF Communications, said: ‘The Harris ITACS enables this nation to make a rapid transition to modern, flexible and modular IP-based tactical area communications. The system dramatically improves situational awareness by creating a mobile tactical Internet that delivers voice, data and situational awareness across the country.’
