German Armed Forces extends the service life of the Marder IFV

The German Armed Forces has contracted Rheinmetall to extend the service life of Germany's Marder IFV, the OEM has announced.

Under the contract, which is worth approximately €110 million ($122 million), Rheinmetall will replace the drivetrain of 71 Marder 1A5 units. In addition, between 2020 and 2023, the company will supply the German military with 78 conversion kits as well as vehicle tool kits and special tools, logistical support, an initial store of spare parts, and training and instruction.
