First Hizir exports arrive in Africa
Turkish manufacturer Katmerciler has supplied a batch of 15 Hizir armoured vehicles to its first export customer, following a $20.7 million production order in July 2019 from an undisclosed African country.
Deliveries will be completed by the end of 2020, Katmerciler reported on 20 July.
Unveiled in November 2016, the Katmerciler Hizir is a 4x4 APC designed to offer a high level of ballistic and blast protection in a highly mobile platform.
In its standard APC configuration, it can accommodate an Aselsan SARP RWS and up to nine occupants. The vehicle is powered by a 400hp engine.
Shephard Defence Insight notes that a total of 57 Hizir vehicles are in service with the Turkish military and border security force.
