Eurosatory: New Piranha IFV launched

General Dynamics European Land Systems is presenting it latest vehicle, the next generation 8x8 Piranha III wheeled infantry fighting vehicle (IFV), at the Eurosatory exhibition in Paris.

The company said that the vehicle was developed in response to customer requirements for increased levels of protection, off-road mobility and with scope for future growth.

For protection the Piranha III has a gross vehicle weight of 27t and is fitted with a Kongsberg 12.7mm remote weapon station (RWS). It can carry up to nine dismounts in addition to the driver, gunner and commander. The original weight of the standard Piranha was 22t.
