Elbit US subsidiary to produce ENVG-B
Elbit Systems of America is to provide the US Army with Enhanced Night Vision Goggle – Binocular (ENVG-B) systems, under a new contract worth up to $442 million.
An initial low-rate initial production order worth $22.5 million, with work to be completed by December 2021, has already been placed under the Other Transaction Authority (OTA) contract.
The ENVG-B systems will undergo various qualification phases, including field trials and system testing.
L3Harris is already providing 10,000 units of ENVG-B to the US Army under a 2018 contract.
ENVG-B is intended to boost soldier situational awareness in poor-visibility conditions, while also increasing lethality with faster target acquisition. It uses AR algorithms to integrate with the US Army Nett Warrior system.
Meanwhile, Elbit Systems of America’s parent company expects to take a hit from COVID-19 in its Q3 financial results, due to the ‘ignificant slowdown in commercial air traffic over recent months.
‘Elbit Systems experienced reduced demand for the products and services it supplies to the commercial aviation markets,’ the Israeli company announced on 26 October.
