Dutch decision casts doubt over SF programme
The Netherlands Ministry of Defence (MoD) has ‘cancelled or postponed’ a requirement to equip its Special Forces (SF) with a dedicated, multi-role Special Operations Vehicle (SOV).
With the requirement first released in 2008, the MoD announced today that it had cancelled or postponed the contract but was unavailable to comment on specific details. However, industry sources confirmed the news to Shephard.
The original programme, which comprised a contract start date during January 2009, included the procurement of some 50 SOVs, incorporating ‘all operational requirements’. It was envisaged to last for a total of five years.
