Dutch Armed Forces will receive 2,800 new trucks
The Netherlands’ Armed Forces will replace their 30 years old fleet of DAF 4 trucks. The Dutch MoD has acquired 2,800 new Scania Gryphus with deliveries to the three services scheduled to start from this week.
The vehicles were procured in three different load capacity categories: 50 kN with 4x4 wheel drive, 100 kN with 6x6 or 8x8 wheel drive and 150 kN 6x6 powered tractor. Around 2,500 trucks were procured in the 8x8 version.
Gryphus is the basis of all versions. The three variants feature more efficient and cleaner engines and cameras to improve situation awareness.
Additionally, the new platforms can be equipped with a surface-mounted model, a container or a crane. Depending on the assignment, variants and options can be combined.
When operating under risky conditions, the normal cabin can be quickly replaced by an armoured version according to the Dutch MoD.
The last trucks are expected to be handed over by 2026.
