DSEI 2017: UK’s MIV programme edges forward

The acquisition strategy for the British Army’s new 8x8 mechanised infantry vehicle (MIV) will be released by year end, senior service officials have confirmed, finally bringing clarity to whether the purchase will go to competition or be a sole-source arrangement.

Speaking to Shephard at DSEI, the head of the British Army General Sir Nick Carter said that he was keen to achieve a rapid acquisition of the MIV, particularly as it is a key element of the army’s new Strike Brigade concept, but there were limitations to overcome.
