Denmark awards Piranha 5 contract
General Dynamics European Land Systems (GDELS) has signed a contract worth $600 million for the sale of 309 Piranha 5 armoured personnel carriers (APCs) to Denmark.
The contract comprises of six variants of the 8x8 vehicle including: infantry, command, ambulance, engineer, mortar and repair. The company refused to provide details of the breakdown of numbers of vehicles or further information about the contract.
Deliveries of the vehicles will begin in 2018 and continue through 2023. The Piranha 5 is set to replace the M113 vehicle fleet and older Piranha 3 vehicles.
