DefExpo 2018: Indian Army awards ballistic vest contract
Soldiers in the Indian Army can look forward to greater personal protection after a contract for thousands of ballistic vests was awarded to SMPP, part of the SM Group, on 9 April.
The contract, worth INR6.93 billion ($106 million), calls for 186,138 jackets to be delivered within three years. This single contract meets all extant requirements of the Indian Army for such equipment.
The government noted that the deal was concluded ‘after successful conduct of stringent field evaluation trials’.
