Defexpo 2014: Companies wait decision on infantry weapons
A decision on India’s Future Infantry Soldier as a System (F-INSAS) is close, according to industry representatives involved in the programme.
A spokesman from Beretta told Shephard that the programme is in the ‘final steps’ and after the Indian elections in May, they can expect to be informed of the results of recent testing of their ARX 160 family of weapons that has been evaluated under Phase 1 of the programme.
Under Phase 1 of F-INSAS, the Indian Army wants to acquire a 5.56mm close quarter battle (CQB) carbine weapon and a multi-barrel (both 5.56mm x 45 and 7.62mm x
