Czech Republic orders Saab RBS 70 NG
Saab has received a $40.29 million order to supply its RBS 70 NG man-portable air defence system to the Czech Republic’s armed forces, the company announced 18 December.
The order also includes integration with Czech air defence, test equipment and training.
The RBS 70 NG features a new generation sight module with integrated high-resolution thermal imager that allows for day and night targeting. The system also has advanced cueing which improves reaction times and target acquisition. Its auto-tracking ability assists the operator with increased hit probability throughout the missile range, and improved guidance further increases performance for both manual and auto-tracker engagements.
Delivery of the systems will take place in 2020 and 2021.
The Czech Republic’s armed forces are already using RBS 70, the earlier version of the system.
